Viaden Inc History
Based in 1994 in Salem, Oregon, Viaden Inc was founded by a group of the enthuisiasts. From the very beginning it was assumed the key aspect of company's activity to be fast and efficient solutions for customers with small and medium businesses. Initially, the company staff counted as few as 10 people, who were basically involved in software development intended for local commercial and manufacturing enterprises commodity and documentation turnover. At that time Viaden General Managers perfectly realized that productive company work could only be arranged in case the development processes were immaculately adjusted in conformity with one another.
In 1995 first statements of future Common Policy were created.
They included Company Mission, Company Strategy along with
some business processes regulation.
1997 was marked for a company with the decision to re-orientate Viaden to Internet and providing web design and development services partially at first, and later on completely. At the same time first version of the company’s corporate website that didn’t even have a personal domain name was published. Just as before, the emphasis was put on small and medium businesses, as well as on vast potential of the Internet and the possibility to work with customers from any corner of the globe. Rapidly enough the company’s staff was enhanced up to 35 people with designers, animators, programmers and testers among them.
In 1998 the Company Policy underwent significant changing.
By that moment it already included detailed descriptions of
majority of internal Viaden processes as well as models of
urgency cases behavior (Risk Management prototype).
The year 2000 was commemorated by the so called “Dot.Com
Failure” that considerably undermined the enthusiasm
of majority of investors and companies basing their business
in the web. However, thoroughly arranged company’s structure
not only didn’t admit production cut down, but also
allowed achieving positive balance and sign several agreements
important in terms of business strategy. In particular, Viaden
management made a decision to take active part in Elance auctions
system. Over the last year of Viaden’s presence on Elance,
the company gained the stable leading position in service
provider rating and had the largest published turnover making
up a significant part of the total Elance annual turnover
of $33 mln USD.
In the same year several outsourcing centers in Belarus were
opened, which created a favorable basis for reducing production
costs without detriment to work pace and quality.
2001 turned out to be a very productive year for the company
both in financial and organizational aspects. By then the
company gained the status of a corporation and became officially
referred to as Viaden Inc. www.Viaden.com domain was purchased
and the corporate website entirely revised. Since then it
has been meeting the essential standards of a corporate web
site. The company’s staff was enhanced to 68 people
and included Client Management, Marketing, Business Analysis
and Quality Assurance departments.
In 2002 the company management decided business processes
need to be perfected further with the purpose of satisfying
fast-evolving market requirements and handling the growing
force of competition. Additionally, the RUP system (Rational
Unified Process) was introduced into the business process,
which allowed to make more concrete project estimations along
with its timely performance. Risk Management, Software Architecture,
Documentation Flow, Business Messaging and other projects
have been considerably revised.
The beginning of 2003 coincided with signing of a partner
agreement between Viaden Inc and Maximizer Software Ltd.,
the largest British CRM company. Viaden intends to promote
Maximizer products on the territory of Eastern Europe and
Russia, where it is the only official representative of Maximizer
Software Ltd. According to experts’ estimations, the
above mentioned market segment is currently experiencing a
boost, and the volume of Eastern European and Russian market
is estimated at $8-10 mln USD.
Simultaneously, the company has initiated preparation for
ISO 9001 certification process, which is planned to take place
in the middle of the current year.
